Hi, I’m Madison, a.k.a. Maddog.
To keep things short and sweet, I followed my childhood dream of moving to British Columbia to create and sell art, and I’m so grateful that you have found my page.
Originally from Ontario and now based in the heart of Squamish. I make oil paintings and I love being apart of the vibrant artist community that exists in the Sea to Sky. If you’re local, you may have seen me around taking part in community events such as: The Squamish Art walk, live painting with Grateful Shred, Installations at the Sea to Sky Gondola, ‘Birds and Words’, and my personal favourite, hosting Paint and Sip nights.
I mostly work with oil paint, I love the way it holds its texture, works slowly on the canvas, and portrays such rich, earthy colours. I would describe my style to be contemporary, with a focus on local landscapes and native animals. The perfect painting in my mind involves heavy strokes, vibrant yellows, and helps to bring a sense of playfulness and joy into its space.
When I’m not painting, you can often find me on my mountain bike, gravel biking, doing yoga or swimming for hours on end. The winter months, I’m strapped into my snowboard as much as possible, chasing powder in the backcountry and gaining endless inspiration in the surrounding mountains. But I’m happiest when I find myself in front of my easel, where I can take a deep breath and paint what’s on my mind.
